Wyoming Estate Sales and Auction Company is accepting consignments for Norman Rockwell art for the upcoming auction highlighting important American authors, painters and illustrators. Rockwell’s pieces have, and will always have,. broad appeal world wide due to the musing of American culture. Although Rockwell’s most famous works are “Girl At Mirror”, “Saying Grace”, “the Runway”, “Self Portrait”, “Rosie The Riveter”, and “Freedom From Want”, there are many other pieces that collectors and investors are anxious to add to their collections. Rockwell’s works reflecting his time with the Boy Scouts are also very desirable to buyers and investors world wide.
We are also seeking Rockwell advertising, illustrations, booklets, catalogs, posters, stamps, playing cards, and other Rockwell works as well.
It is interesting to note that the highest price ever received for a Norman Rockwell piece was in 2013 when “Saying Grace” was auctioned for over $46 million which included the buyers premium.
It is interesting to know, and not widely known, but in 2005, Federated Department Store purchased the May Department Store Company, which included the Rockwell piece “The Clock Mender”. After the sale however, it was discovered that piece was a reproduction. Rockwell had donated the painting to the firm, which depicted a repairman adjusting the time on one of the firms buildings clocks, (also displayed on the November 3, 1945 Saturday Evening Post). Turns out the previous owner had since donated the original to the Chicago History Museum.
